I Remember

September 11, 2001.
I had spent the night at my sister's house in Payson.
On that day I was going to give my niece a ride to school over in Orem.
In the car we turned on the radio and all we heard were news reports about a plane
crashing into one of the World Trade towers.
I called my sister, she already had the tv on and could not believe it.
Next I called Chris, my first thought was about his dad who worked in
the Bank of America building in San Francisco.
Chris woke up and turned on the news then called his family.
I went by my dad's house in Orem so I could finally see it on tv.
I watched as they showed footage of the plane crashing into the tower,
and as the towers came down.
I dropped my niece off at school and then went to Chris' apartment.
We got breakfast from Magleby's Fresh then went back to his place,
we just sat and watched tv for hours and hours.
I realized around 1:00 that I should probably go to work.
But who could work?
Everyone was watching the reports on their computers.
We all wondered what would come next?
Slowly we learned about the planes in Pennsylvania and DC.
I will never forget that day, or the ones that followed.
I would just sit in bed at night watching the news and bawling
as they would name all those who were lost.
They would show their widows and their children.
Then slowly life got back to normal.

Today I look back with disbelief that it all really happened.
I look around at the life I have today and how thankful I am for
those who protect my life and those I love.
I'm thankful that I live in America, that I have a beautiful family,
a safe home, and clothes on my back.

And each day I look at this little girl and smile.

Let's all take a minute to remember and to be thankful.
